In which of the following acid-base titration, pH is greater than 8 at equivalence point?

    A)  Acetic acid versus ammonia

    B)  Acetic acid versus sodium hydroxide

    C)  Hydrochloric acid versus ammonia

    D)  Hydrochloric acid versus sodium hydroxide

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

pH can be more than 8 at equivalence point only when the resulting solution is basic. It can only be possible for titration of weak acid and strong base. Hence in titration of \[C{{H}_{3}}COOH\] and \[NaOH\] produce an alkaline solution at end point.
