Which of the following is not a green house gas?

    A)  Carbon dioxide

    B)  Water vapour

    C)                         Methane

    D)         Oxygen

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

Radiations of the sun which fall on the earth are radiated back to the space. But certain gases in the atmosphere traps these solar radiations, thereby increasing the temperature of the earth. This is known as greenhouse effect. The various green house gases are \[C{{O}_{2}}\], water vapours, chlorofluoro carbons, \[C{{H}_{4}}\] oxides of nitrogen, \[N{{H}_{3}}\] etc. \[\therefore \] \[{{O}_{2}}\] is not a green house gas.
