The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is based on the phenomenon of :

    A) nuclear magnetic resonance

    B) electron spin resonance

    C) electron paramagnetic resonance

    D) dia magnetism of human tissues

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) which is a spin technology has been applied to medical diagnostics with great success. The protons of various tissues of the human body are situated in many different local magnetic environments. When a part of body is immersed in a strong external magnetic field, these environmental differences can be detected by spin-flip techniques and translated by computer processing into an image. This process is generally based on the method nuclear magnetic resonance.
