In old age arteries carrying blood in the human body become narrow resulting in an increase in the blood pressure. This follows from:

    A) Pascals law

    B) Stokes law

    C) Bernoullis principle

    D) Archimedes principle

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

From Bernoullis principle in the horizontal stream line motion of a liquid the sum of pressure (P) kinetic energy per unit volume of the liquid at any point is constant, hence \[\rho +\frac{1}{2}\rho {{v}^{2}}=constant.\] It is clear from this equation that is a flowing liquid where the velocity of flow is less the pressure is large and vice-versa. Hence, arteries carrying blood become narrow resulting in increase in the blood pressure.
