Direction for: In each of the following questions a statement of Assertion is given followed by a corresponding statement of Reason just below it. Of the statements mark the correct answer as

Assertion: The driver in a vehicle moving with a constant speed on a straight road is in non-inertial frame of reference. Reason: A reference frame in wilt Newtons laws of motion are applicable non-inertial.

    A) If both assertion and reason are true and reason is the correct explanation of assertion.

    B) If both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of assertion.

    C) If assertion is true but reason is false.

    D) If both assertion and reason are false.

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

If we take a body resting with respect to two frames with origin 0 and 0 then the body will be at rest. But the frame (vehicle) is moving with constant speed, so, this frame cannot be an inertial frame of reference or it is a non-inertial frame of reference. But the frame in which Newtons law of motion are applicable is an inertial frame.
