For the equilibrium \[\frac{5}{2}\]  at 1 atm and 298 K:

    A) standard free energy change is equal to zero \[\frac{5}{2}\]

    B) free energy change is less than zero \[Be{{(OH)}_{2}}\]

    C) standard free energy change is less than zero \[Mg{{(OH)}_{2}}\]

    D) standard free energy change is greater than zero \[B{{(OH)}_{3}}\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

The process, \[KMn{{O}_{4}},\] is an endothermic process \[{{H}_{2}}{{O}_{2}}\] and entropy increase during this change \[1/2\]. Hence, this process is spontaneous at all temperatures above \[3/2\] (\[5/2\], so,  \[7/2\] is negative, \[N_{3}^{-}\]). Thus free energy change \[+1\] will be less than zero \[{{N}_{2}}O\] at 1 atmand298K.
