    Solution :

In India maximum biodiversity is found in two geographical areas i.e., Eastern Himalaya and Western Ghats. These two areas are included among the 25 hot spots of the world. Eastern Himalaya: It lies in North- Eastern India. This region is rich in endemic plant species and diversity of flowering plants. The numerous primitive angiosperm families (e.g., Magnoliaceae and Winteraceae) and primitive genera of plants, like Magnolia and Betula are found in this area. Western Ghat: This region lies parallel to the Western coast of Indian peninsula covering Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Forests are mostly evergreen up to 500m above mean sea level and semievergreen from 500-1500 m height. The Agasthyamaloi Hills, the Silent Valley and the New Amambalam Reserve are the main centres of diversity.
