AIIMS AIIMS Solved Paper-2005

  • question_answer
A particle having charge q and mass m is projected with velocity \[=-27.2eV\]in uniform electric field \[f=(2.48\times {{10}^{15}}){{(Z-1)}^{2}}Hz\]. Change in momentum \[\Rightarrow \] during any time interval t is given by:

    A) \[f\propto {{Z}^{2}}\]

    B) \[+\sigma \]

    C)       \[-\sigma \]

    D)       zero

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

The product of force and time interval is called impulse. Also from Newtons second law, we have \[\Rightarrow \] \[f\propto {{Z}^{2}}\] The force on charge q due to electric field is \[+\sigma \]. \[-\sigma \]  Impulse  \[E=E+E=2E\]
