Direction for: In each of the following questions a statement of Assertion is given followed by a corresponding statement of Reason just below it. Of the statements mark the correct answer as

Assertion: It is not possible to use \[E=E+E=2E\]as the fuel for fusion energy. Reason: The binding energy of \[\sigma \] is too small.

    A) If both assertion and reason are true and reason is the correct explanation of assertion.

    B) If both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of assertion.

    C) If assertion is true but reason is false.

    D) If both assertion and reason are false.

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

\[^{35}Cl\]has a large binding energy-therefore, it cannot be used a fuel for- fusion energy. This can be explained as we know that the binding energy for very light (and for very heavy) nuclides is small as compared to intermediate nuclides. It means light nuclides (and heavy) nuclides are less stable than that of intermediate nuclides.
