Which one of the following statements is true for protein synthesis (translation)?

    A) Amino acids are directly recognised by m-RNA

    B) The third base of the codon is less specific

    C) Only one codon codes for an amino acid

    D) Every c-RNA molecule has more than one amino acid attachment

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

The triplet of nucleotide having a specific sequence of bases is known as codon. Each codon specifies one amino acid. More then one codon can specify same amino acid. According to Wobble hypothesis proposed by FHC Crick, third base of a codon is not very important and specificity of a codon is particularly determined by first two bases. M RNA is involved in copying sequences of bases from DNA strand to RNA molecule.
