    Methyl \[\alpha -\]D- glucoside and methyl \[\beta -D\]glucoside die.

    A)  epimers

    B)  anomers

    C)  enantiomers

    D)  conformational diastereomers

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Methyl glucosides are obtained when one molecule of methyl alcohol combined with glucose. The resultant cyclic structure will convert the aldehydic carbon asymmetric and hence two methyl glucosides could exist. These isomers are differing in configuration at asymmetric carbon produced due to ring formations are known as anomers.
