  • question_answer
A coil in the shape of an equilateral triangle of side 0.02 m is suspended from its vertex such that it is hanging in a vertical plane between the pole pieces of permanent magnet producing a uniform field of 5x 10-2 T. If a current of 0.1 A is passed through the coil, what is the couple acting?

    A)  \[4\mathbf{\hat{j}}-4\mathbf{\hat{i}}+\alpha \mathbf{\hat{k}}\]

    B)  \[-1\]

    C)  \[\frac{1}{2}\]

    D)        None of these

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    Torque \[P=\left( \frac{\mu RT}{V-\mu b} \right)-\frac{{{\mu }^{2}}a}{{{V}^{2}}}\] \[P=\left( \frac{RT}{2V-b}-\frac{a}{4{{b}^{2}}} \right)\] or     \[\mu =\frac{1}{2}\] \[\mu =\frac{m}{M}\] \[\Rightarrow \] \[m=\mu M=\frac{1}{2}\times 44=22g\] \[n=\frac{1}{2\pi }\sqrt{\frac{g}{l}}\]
