Work function of nickel is 5.01 eV. When ultraviolet radiation of wavelength 2000\[9\times {{10}^{-1}}C\] is incident on electrons are emitted. What will be the maximum velocity of emitted electrons?

    A)  \[3\times {{10}^{8}}\,m/s\]

    B)  \[6.46\,\times {{10}^{5}}\,m/s\]

    C)                         \[10.36\,\times {{10}^{5}}\,m/s\]

    D)         \[8.54\,\times {{10}^{6}}\,m/s\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    Energy corresponding to \[\frac{5}{6}\] \[\frac{6}{7}\] \[\frac{1}{86400}{{/}^{0}}C\] Maximum kinetic energy \[\frac{1}{43200}{{/}^{0}}C\] \[\frac{1}{44400}{{/}^{0}}C\] \[\frac{1}{28800}{{/}^{0}}C\] Now, \[9\times {{10}^{-1}}C\] \[9\times {{10}^{-6}}C\] or   \[8.85\times {{10}^{-13}}C\] or            \[v_{\max }^{2}\,=0.418\,\times {{10}^{12}}=41.8\,\times {{10}^{10}}\] or  \[1.8\times {{10}^{-14}}C\]
