    A)  embryo culture

    B)  tissue culture

    C)  anther culture

    D)  protoplast culture.

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

: For the first time H. Harris and J. F. Watkins in 1965, succeded in fusing the cells of two unrelated species, mouse and man, to produce hybrid cells by protoplast fusion technique. This technique enabled to overcome the barrier of crossing between different species and genera. In case of plants some interspecific plant hybrids have been produced by protoplast fusion technique such as hybrid tobacco plant produced by the fusion of cell of N. glauca and N. langsdorfii, and hybrid Petunia produced by two different species of Petunia. Triticale has been created through intergeneric hybridization between wheat and rye.
