    D)  substance- P

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Local hormones are those hormones, which have local effect. They may or may not pass into blood. They are also known as parahormone. eg, kinins and prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are fatty acids derivatives which have diverse functions including blood flow, regulation, antithrombotic etc. Kinins (Bradykinins) are polypeptides that cause contraction of smooth muscles and dilation of blood vessels. Cytokine is any soluble factor secreted by cells of the lymphoid system that acts as signal to other lymphoid cell, like lymphokines (secreted by lymphocytes) and rnonokines (secreted by macrophages). Prostacyclin is a type of prostaglandin normally produced by endothelial cells lining the walls of blood vessels. It inhibits blood clotting by preventing the aggregation of platelets and cause widening of blood vessels. Substance-p is a neuropeptide comprising amino acid residue that is found widely in tissue, especially in the nervous system and gut. It mediates the effects of the parasympathetic nervous system by stimulating contraction of gut, causing dilation of blood vessels and increasing the flow of saliva from salivary gland.
