    A)                  glucose

    B)  ribose

    C)                  deoxyribose

    D)  None of the above

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

Chitin is an important polysaccharide. It is found in the hard exoskeleton of insects and crustaceans and in the cell walls of fungi. It is a polyglycan consisting of N-acetyl D-glucosamine units connected through (3-1, 4-glycosidic linkage. The pentose sugar ribose and deoxyribose form the backbone of RNA and DNA respectively. Glucose is a monomer unit of maltose, sucrose, cellulose etc.
