    Solution :

                     Cleavage is the process of early mitotic division of zygote, which does not involve growth of daughter cell or blastomere causing increased nucleocytoplasmic ratio. It differs from mitosis in following respects : (i) There is no growth phase between the successive divisions. (ii) Size of cells gradually decreases. (iii) Metabolism becomes fast. (iv) Rapid DNA replication and (v) High consumption of oxygen.
