                     AIDS (Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome) is caused by AIDS virus known as Human Immuno deficiency Virus (HIV). Ifs first case came to light in USA. HIV was discovered by Robert Gallo. HIV is present in blood and other body fluids of infected person. HIV is primarily transmitted through sexual activities and is predominant among male homosexual. Unprotected vaginal or oral sex, sharing of syringes and needles by intravenous drugs addicts use of unsterilized syringes by doctor and health worker etc are also responsible for transmission of HIV. Another mode of transmission of HIV is through transfusion of infected blood and blood products, tissue and organ transplantation from infected to healthy persons. Infected mother are most likely to transmit the virus to their children during pregnancy (through the placenta) or through breast milk after birth.
