    B)  IgM

    C)                  IgA

    D)  IgE

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

IgG constitutes 75% of total immuno globulins present in all body parts. It can pass through placenta providing passive immunity to neonates, stimulates complement system and phagocytes against toxins, virus, bacteria and fungi. IgM is the largest immunoglobulin with 10 binding sites, activates B-cells over which it is present alongwith IgD, also first to reach the site of infection and activates classical pathway of complement system. IgA is called secretory immunoglobulin because it is present in all body secretions including colostrum and mothers milk. Functions as first line of defence against inhaled and ingested pathogenes by activating alternate pathway of complement system. IgE is present in mucous membrane, skin and lungs. Attaches to mast cells and basophils for releasing histamine and other substances that mediate hypersensitivity response to allergens.
