    D)                  DNA bound by histones

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Plasmids are self replicating, gene containing circular pieces of DNA about 4% to 5% of the size of bacterial chromosome. Most, but not all plasmids are dispensable, ie, they are not required for survival of the cell, in which they reside. Three types of bacterial plasmids are (i) F-F plasmid is the conjugation fertility factor. (ii) R-plasmid is plasmid carrying genes for resistance to antibiotic or other antibacterial drugs. (iii) Col-plasmid is plasmid coding for colicins, which is a protein that kills sensitive E.coli cell.
