                     Plastids are small bodies found free in the cytoplasm of most plant cells. There are two main groups of plastids : (i) Chromoplast contains pigment and may be photosynthetically active. (ii) Leucoplast are colourless plastids they are of following types :  Amyloplasts which function in the storage of starch and are found in endosperm, storage tubers and cotyledons.  Elaioplast are meant for storing oil.  Aleuroplasts are meant for storing proteins. Chloroplasts are type of chromoplast. They contain pigment called chlorophyll and are present in green algae and higher plants.
