    B)  synovial

    C)  cartilaginous

    D)  hinge

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Joint between human skull bones is fibrous joint (fixed joint). In this type of joint, union of bony element is by continuous intervening fibrous tissue. Fibrous joint is of three types (i) Sutura occurs among skull bones and innominate bones. (ii) Syndesmosis are ligament joints between radio-ulna, tibio-fibula. (iii) Gomphosis is peg and socket joint as between tooth and jaw bone. Synovial joint (freely movable joint) allows free movement in one or more direction. Bone ends bear synovial membrane and enclose a cushion of synovial fluid. In Hinge Joint articulate end of one bone is deeper convex and that of other is deeper concave, allowing movement in one plane, eg, elbow joint, knee joint etc. In cartilagenous joint or imperfect joint or slightly movable joint union of bony elements is by intervening cartilage. They are of two types?(i) Synchondrosis and (ii) Symphysis, eg, between center of two vertebrae, pubic symphysis, ribs and sternum.
