In which type of ovule, micropyle, chalaza, funicle are in one vertical plane?

    A)  Orthotropous

    B)  Anatropous

    C)  Circinotropous

    D)  Amphitropous

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

The megasporangium together with its protective coats, the integuments is called ovule. They are of following types  Orthotropous ovules : In this type of ovule, the micropyle and the funiculus lie in one line, eg, sympetalae.  Anatropous ovules: In this type, micropyle comes to lie close to the funiculus due to unilateral growth of ovule, eg, Polygonaceae, Piperaceae.  Campylotropous ovules : The curvature is less than that in the anatropous ovules, eg, Capparidaceae and Chenopodiaceae.  Amphitropous ovules: Nucellus becomes horse-shoe shaped due to the curvature of the ovule, eg, Crossomataceae and Leithereaceae. (e) Hemianatropous or Hemitropous ovules The funiculus is at the right angle to the nucellus and the integument, eg, Malpighiaceae and Primulaceae. (f) Circinotropous ovules It is a special type of ovules found in members of Cactaceae.   Initially, the nucellar protuberane is in line with the axis (orthotropous). Due to unilateral growth, it first becomes anatropous and as the curvature continues the micropyle again points upward in the fully formed ovule (again orthotropous). As a result funicle completely surrounds the body of the ovule.
