                     Cryopreservadon is process of germplasm preservation by low temperature treatment. In this method, the material is preserved at \[-{{196}^{o}}C\] in liquid nitrogen and can maintain tissue culture embryos, animal cell/tissue, spermatozoa. The cryopreserved material is revived through special technique when required. It is Ex situ method of preservation. Ex situ conservation is conservation of selected rare plants/animals in places outside their natural home. It includes offsite collections and gene bank. They are also a source of genetic material for breeders and genetic engineers.
