    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Atavism is defined as the reappearance of ancestral characteristic, which is presently absent or vestigial, eg, small tail in some babies, additional mammae below the normal ones, dense body hair in males, ability to move pinnae somewhat irrigularly and enlarged canines in human. Segregation is the separation of pairs of allels during the formation of reproductive cells so that they contain one allele only of each pair. It is the result of separation of homologous chromosomes during meiosis. The phenomenon of epistasis was discovered by Bateson (1907). The gene which masks the effect is called epistatic gene, while the one which is suppresed is called hypostatic gene.
