                     Insectivorous plants grow in nitrogen deficient soil. They get their nitrogen from captured animals. Such plants, which obtain their nitrogen from captured animal known as insectivorous or carnivorous plant, eg, Nepenthes, Drosera, Utricularia etc. Nepenthes (pitcher plant) grows on the ground forms rosette of pitcher bearing leaves. In this plant, the lamina of leaf is modified to form pitcher, the apex forms a lid and petiole becomes tendril.
