    A)                  ammensalism

    B)                  parasitism

    C)                  predation

    D)                  exploitation

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Ammensalism is defined as symbiosis, in which one organism is inhabited by the other but the latter remain unaffected, eg, Microcystis produces toxic   substances   such   as hydroxylamine, which causes the death of fish and even cattle that drink that water. Parasitism is an interaction between two individuals wherein the parasite gets the benefit at the expense of host. The most successful parasite is that which does minimum harm, eg, crab. Pinnotheres lives in oyesters and feed on the mucous secretion of their gills, without causing any harm to them. Predation is the process, in which one animal eats other for example carnivores plants like sundew (Droserd), aquatic bladderwort (Utricularid) etc and insectivorous animals. In exploitation, one species harms the other by making its direct or indirect use for support shelter or food, eg, Polyergus workers said nests of Fomica and latter feeds and build nest for master Polyergus.
