                     Painful skeletal determites called Itai-itai (ouch-ouch) first reported in Toyama city of Japan. It results due to release of cadmium as industrial effluent. It also results in anaemia, hypertension, testicular atrophy, damage to liver and kidney, cancer of liver and lungs and diarrhoea.
