    A)                  root pressure

    B)                  transpiration pull

    C)                  photosynthesis

    D)                  respiration

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Guttation was discovered by Bergerstein in 1887. It results a consequence of root pressure. In this process, water is liberated in form of water droplets from the margin or apex of leaf lamina. It is an uncontrolled process and takes place through loosely arranged water pores called hydathodes or water stomata. Loss of water from the aerial parts in transpiration causes a suction pressure in the water column of the plant. This is known as transpiration pull and lift the water upwardly. Photosynthesis is phenomenon of conversion of light energy to chemical energy by green plants. The process of release of energy by living organs by breakdown of organic molecules is called cellular respiration or tissue respiration or internal respiration.
