    C)                  adrenal, pituitary

    D)                  parathyroid, thyroid

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Cushings syndrome is caused as a result of hypersecretion of mineralocorticoids of adrenal gland. The syndrome is due to elevated level of plasma cortisol and related hormone due to carcinoma of adrenal cortex, excessive dose of corticosteroids, non- endocrine secretion or excessive dose of ACTH. It results in higher blood volume, higher blood pressure, hyperglycaemia, glycosurea, obesity, electrolyte embalanced with rise in Na+ in plasma. Myxoedema is disorder found in adults due to hypothyroidism. The disorder is characterized by puffy appearance due to subcutaneous accumulation of interstitial fluid or oedema, low basal metabolic rate, lower heart rate etc. Pituitary gland secretes various hormones, which results in dwarfism, acromicrid, gigantism, acromegaly diabetes insipidus. Hyposecretion of parathyroid hormone causes mental retardation in children and hypersecretion causes osteoporosis. The hormone mobilises excess of calcium from bones forming cavities in their interior. It produces stones in kidney and ureters causing renal insufficiency.
