AMU Medical AMU Solved Paper-2004

  • question_answer
A wave is expressed by the equation \[\text{y}=\text{ }0.\text{5 sin }\pi \left( 0.0\text{1x}-\text{3t} \right)\] Where x, y are in metres and f in second. The speed of propagation will be

    A)  150 m/s

    B)  300 m/s

    C)  350 m/s

    D)  250 m/s

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

                     Standard equation of wave of amplitude A and angular velocity o is given by                 \[y=A\,\sin \,(kx-\omega t)\]                     ... (i) Given equation is                 \[y=0.5\,\,\sin \,\,\pi \,(0.01\,x-3\,t)\]   ... (ii) Comparing Eqs. (i) and (ii), we get                 \[k=0.01\,\pi \],                \[\omega =3\pi \] Also,      \[v=\frac{\omega }{k}\]                 \[=\frac{3\,\pi }{0.01\,\pi }=300\,m/s\]
