    Lomasomes are found in

    A)  algal cell

    B)  fungal cell

    C)  bacterial cell

    D)  cyanobacterial cell

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Lomasomes are globular outgrowth of cell membrane in between cell wall and cell membrane, which help in cell wall synthesis, endocytosis and increase surface area for diffusion. The term was coined by Moore and Me Alear. The cell constituting the algal thalli are basically of two kinds, prokaryotic and eukaryotic. The prokaryotic cells which constitute thalli of cyanophytes have a cell wall which contains a specific strengthened component not found in other algae. Bacteria are basically unicellular with prokaryotic organisation. The cell consists ois cell envelope, which surrounds the cytoplasm. Cytoplasm contains cytoplasmic inclusion like gas vacuoles. Volutein granules, food reserve, mesosomes, chromatophores flagella etc. The cell structure of cyanobacterial (Blue green algae) is typical prokaryotic cell. It lacks all the membrane bound cell organelles.
