    The most common auxin is

    A)  GA

    B)  ABA

    C)  Kinetin

    D)  IAA

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

The most common naturally occurring auxin is Indole Acetic Acid (IAA). It is produced in shoot apical meristem and is found in young leaves flowers and fruits. The natural auxin may occur in plants in the form of free auxin (diffusable auxin), which moves out of the plant tissues quite readily and bound auxins that are released from plant tissues only after hydrolysis autolysis and enzymolysis. It is effective in stem elongation and root elongation. GA are weakly acidic natural plant hormones which have a gibbane ring structure having four isoprene units. They bring about cell elongation of both leaves and stems in general and intemodal length. The hormone was discovered by Yabuta and Sumiki. The most common Gibberellin is \[G{{A}_{3}}\] (Gibberellic Acid). ABA (Abscisic Acid) is also known as stress hormone or Dormin or abscissin. It is natural growth inhibiter, which countracts the influence of growth promoting hormone, induces dormancy and helps to overcome stress condition. It was discovered by Addicott et al, in 1963 from cotton balls.  Kinetins (Cytokinins) are classes of plant hormones that promotes cell division. They are midly basic growth hormones, which are usually amino purine derivatives. The first cytokinin was discovered by Miller et al, through autoclaving. Herring sperm DNA was a synthetic product called kinetin (derivative of adenine). It is a urfuryl amino purine.
