    B)  Fungi

    C)  Protozoans

    D)  Protista

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

Diatoms are placed in kingdom-Protista. Diatoms conprise a group of golden brown photosynthetic microscopic protists. They belong to phylum. Chrysophytes and class Bassillariophyceae. They are unicellular form which sometimes form small colonies. They are present in all aquatic and moist terrestrial habitat and are very good pollution indicators. The term Protista was given by German biologist Ernst Haeckel. Members of kingdom-Plantae display enormous diversity of habit, habitat, morphological, anatomical physiological, biochemical and reproductive adaptation. Members of this kingdom are multicellular and have the ability to ful-fill photosynthetically their nutritional requirements. Fungi comprise a large divergent and successful group of organisms. They are achlorophyllous, heterotrophic shade loving, gametophytic, haploid, multicellular, eukaryotic, nucleated, cryogenic pore producing thallohytes, which are surrounded by cell wall of chitin. Study of fungi is called Mycology. Protozoans are also included in kingdom Protista. They are a heterogenous assemblage of acellular or single cell organism possessing typical membrane bound cellular organelles. They are regarded as the most primitive or first animals. The study of protozoans is known as Protozoology and they were first seen by the Leeuwenhoek (1674).
