Which of the following undergoes spemiogenesis?

    A)  Spermatids

    B)  Spermatogonia

    C)  Primary spermatocytes

    D)  Secondary spermatocytes

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Spermiogenesis is the differentiation of the spermatids into spermatozoa. During this process, spermatozoid develops head a neck and a tail and becomes the mature sperm, which involves Golgi complex lysosomes, nucleus, mitochondria and centriole. Golgi apparatus forms acrosome. Centriole divide into two distal centrioles form axial filament. Spermatogonia is any of diploid cell in the wall of seminiferous tubules of the testes that gives rise to primary spermatocytes. These cells function as stem cells to produce more Spermatogonia. Spermatogonia becomes active during breeding season and grows into primary spermatocyte by obtaining nourishment from the supportive cells. They are formed as a result of spermatocytogenesis. During maturation phase, each diploid primary spermatocyte undergoes meiosis-I to form two haploid secondary spermatocytes. All these are derived from a single spermatogonium remain attached to one another and ultimately give rise to two haploid sepermatids.
