    D)  iter

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

The roof of diencephalon is epithalamus, which is modified into an endocrine gland called as epiphyseal gland or pineal body (secretes melatonin and serotonin) the lateral wall of diencephalon or thalami are thick and formed of mostly grey matter. The cavity of diencephalon is narrow and called third ventricle or diacoel. It communicates anteriorly lateral ventricles and posteriorly with iter. Lateral ventricles or paracoel (first and second ventricle) is cavity of cerebrum. It is filled with cerebrospinal fluid. The ventricles are slightly irregular with projections in frontal temporal  and occipital lobes. Foramen of Monro is common aperture, by which two ventricles open into third ventricle. Iter or cerebral aqueduct (aqueduct of sylvius) is the cavity of metabrain. It communicates with the diocoel in front and fourth ventricles of hindbrain behind.
