    A)  oogonial cells

    B)  corpus luteum

    C)  theca extema and theca intema

    D)  corpus albicans

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Graafian follicle is the mature ovarian follicle. It has a diameter of 10 mm. It consists of two layers. The outer fibrous layer called theca externa and the inner cellular layer called theca interna, which are derived from spindle cells of cortex. The theca interna is cellular, permeated by capillary network developing Graafian follicles press outwards forming a bulge at ovarian surface. Oogonial cells are found in ovarian follicle. They are formed by primordial germinal cell of embryonic epithelium by repeatedly dividing mitotically. Each oogonial cell becomes the central cell of a primordial ovarian follicle. Corpus luteum is ruptured, follicle changes into a yellowish endocrine gland called corpus luteum which secretes progesterone hormone. Corpus albicans is the inactive reduced mass of corpus luteum, which has lost its yellow colour that eventually degenerates.
