    A)  F Reddi

    B)  L Splanznii

    C)  Louis Pasteur

    D)  Aristotle

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

Theory of spontaneous generation or Abiogenesis was given by Aristotle. According to this theory, life originated from non-living substances. Aristode believed that fishes originated from mud and insects from decaying meat. Theory of Biogenesis refers to origin of life from pre-existing life by reproduction. Francisco Reddi was founder of this theory and it was supported by many other like Lazzaro Spallanzani and Louis Pasteur. Reddi concluded that the flies arised from the eggs laid down by the parent flies and that the maggots could not appear spontaneously. Spallanzani concluded that air contained micro-organism or germs, which germinated when got moisture and food. Pasteur revealed only that the life cannot arise spontaneously under conditions that exist on earth. The first form of life (self duplicating particle) did arise spontaneously from chemical innate substance.
