In order to convert aniline into chlorobenzene the reagent used is

    A)  \[NaN{{O}_{2}}/HCl,\,\,CuCl\]

    B)  \[C{{l}_{2}}/CC{{l}_{4}}\]

    C)  \[C{{l}_{2}}/AlC{{l}_{3}}\]

    D)  \[CuC{{l}_{2}}\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

The reaction of converting aromatic primary amine to diazonium salt is called diazotisation. To obtain chlorobenzene, benzene diazonium chloride is treated with cuprous chloride. This reaction is called Sandmeyer reaction.                 Therefore, to convert aniline into chloro- benzene \[NaN{{O}_{2}}\]/HCl, CuCl reagents are used.
