    DNA multiplication is called

    A)  translation

    B)  reverse transcription

    C)  transcription

    D)  replication

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

DNA multiplication is also called as replication. It is the property of a molecule to synthesise another molecule. DNA has a unique property to duplicate or replicate itself ie, it can bring about the synthesis of another DNA molecule. In this process the two strands of DNA helix unwind and each strand serves as a template or pattern for the synthesis of a new DNA molecule. Due to unique specificity of base pairing the newly synthesised complementary strand in each case is same copy of originally separated from it. Translation The process of protein synthesis is called translation. This process is completed with the participation of t-RNA, amino acids, ATP and enzyme. Transcription The synthesis of RNA from DNA is called transcription. Reverse transcription In tumour virus (Rous sarcoma virus) DNA is formed from RNA. This is called reverse transcription.                                                                 \[\xrightarrow{Translation}\] Protein
