    The correct statement is

    A)  In a population, number of birth is different from birth rate.

    B)  A sigmoid growth curve is depiction of exponential growth.

    C)  In a logistic growth curve the asymptote is beyond the carrying capacity.

    D)  r is equal to the difference between number of births and number of deaths in a population.

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

When any one of the growth parameters such as growth in size or weight, increase in number of cells, etc., are plotted in a graph against time a clear sigmoid curve is obtained. It is also known as S-curve or growth curve. This growth curve shows three phases of growth. They are log phase, exponential phase and stationary phase. The rapid growth occurs during the exponential phase.
