A certain force gives an object of mass \[{{m}_{2}}\] an acceleration of \[12\,\,m/{{s}^{2}}\] and an object of mass \[{{m}_{2}}\] an acceleration of \[3\,\,m/{{s}^{2}}\]. What acceleration would the force give to an object of mass \[{{m}_{2}}={{m}_{1}}\]?

    A)  \[0.5\,m/{{s}^{2}}\]

    B)  \[1.0\,m/{{s}^{2}}\]

    C)  \[2.0\,m/{{s}^{2}}\]

    D)  \[4.0\,m/{{s}^{2}}\]

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

If force applied on mass \[{{m}_{1}}\], then acceleration \[\Rightarrow \]                               \[12=\frac{F}{{{m}_{2}}}\] If force applied on mass \[{{m}_{2}}\], then acceleration                                 \[3=\frac{F}{{{m}_{2}}}\] When same force is applied on \[{{m}_{2}}-{{m}_{1}}\] Then, acceleration \[a=\frac{F}{{{m}_{2}}-{{m}_{1}}}\]                                 \[=\frac{F}{\frac{F}{3}-\frac{F}{12}}\]                                 \[=4m/{{s}^{2}}\]
