Which one of the following electrolytes is most effective for the coagulation of \[Fe{{(OH)}_{3}}\]?

    A)  NaCI

    B)  \[N{{a}_{2}}S{{O}_{4}}\]

    C)  \[N{{a}_{3}}P{{O}_{4}}\]

    D)  \[A{{s}_{2}}{{S}_{3}}\]

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

\[Fe{{(OH)}_{3}}\] is a positively charged sol. According to Hardy Schulze rule, greater the charge on an oppsitely charged ion of the electrolyte added, more effective it is in bringing about the coagulation. Hence, \[N{{a}_{3}}P{{O}_{4}}\] (containing \[PO_{4}^{3-}\] ions) is most effective.
