Consider the following statements: (1) Copper is present in cytochrome oxidane (2) Pantothenic acid is the precursor of co-enzyme-A (3) Thiamine pyprophosphate is the prosthetic group in decarboxylases (4) Zinc is present in RNA and DNA polymerases

    A)  1, 2 and 3 are correct

    B)  1 and 2 are correct

    C)   1, 2 and 4 are correct

    D)  1 and 3 are correct

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Cytochrome oxidase contains two copper ion (CuA and CuB) and two heme-A groups (heme a and heme-\[{{a}_{3}}\]). Pantothenic acid is the precursor of coenzyme-A. The coenzyme-A is a universal carrier of acyi groups. Thiamine Thyophosphatc (TTP) is the prosthetic group of three important enzymes pyruvate dehydrogenase, a-ketoglutarate and ransketolase. \[M{{g}^{2+}}\]is present in RNA and DNA polymerases. Zinc is present in various enzymes such as alcohol dehydrogenase, carbonic anhydrase. carboxypeptidase, in glucocorticoid and receptors and in zinc Finger proteins.
