Heparin is a proteoglycan. It is anticoagulant. Heparin prevents, coagulation of blood in blood vessels, ie, -in vivo condition. Heparin is mainly synthesized in liver and in small amount from mast cells of connective tissues. Other anticoagulants are sodium citrate and EDTA. They inhibit blood coagulation outside blood vessels, ie, in vitro condition like blood banks. Kidney is an organ involves in excretion and osmoregulation.
