    The current in a circuit containing a battery connected to 20 resistance is 0.9 A. When a resistance of 70 is connected to the same battery, the current observed in the circuit is 0.3 A. Then the internal resistance of the battery is

    Solution :

                     \[i=\frac{E}{R+r}\] or            \[\frac{{{i}_{1}}}{{{i}_{2}}}=\frac{{{R}_{2}}+r}{{{R}_{1}}+r}\] \[\therefore \]  \[\frac{0.9}{0.3}=\frac{7+r}{2+r}\]or \[3=\frac{7+r}{2+r}\] Putting in Eq. (i), we get                 \[X=30\,\Omega \]
