Mitosis differs from meiosis in not having (1) duplication of DNA   (2) synapsis (3) interphase                   (4) crossing over

    A)  1, 2 and 3 are correct

    B)  1 and 2 are correct

    C)  2 and 4 are correct

    D)  1 and 3 are correct

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Mitosis differs from meiosis in not having synapsis and crossing over. Synapsis occurs during zygotene substage of prophase-I of meiosis. During this, homologous chromosomes pair up. Crossing over occurs during pachytene substage of prophase-I of meiosis. It involves exchange of segments between non-sister chromatids of homologous chromosomes.
