Virus with nucleic acid but without protein coat is called

    A)  virion

    B)  viroid

    C)  capsid

    D)  prion

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Viroids are small circular, single standed RNA molecules that are smallest known pathogens. The extracellular form of viroid is naked RNA, ie, there is no protein capsid of any kind. Their RNA molecule contains no protein encoding genes and therefore, the viroid is totally dependent on host function for its replication.
