    C)  2 and 4 are correct

    D)  1 and 3 are correct

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Parachute mechanism is shown by the cypsela fruits of family-Asteraceae, which possess persistent calyx (sepals) modified into hairy structures called pappus. At maturity, the fruit opens like an umbrella and floats in air currents. Pappus, being hygroscopic, absorbs moisture and becomes heavy. Thus, the fruit comes down just like parachute landing on the ground. eg, Sonchus, Helianthus, Tagetes, etc. Antirrhinum shows censor mechanism of dispersal while in Carthamus oxycantha, trumble seeds are found.
