Directions : In the following question more than one of the answers given may be correct. Select the correct answer and mark it according to the code:

    For which of the following reactions, the value of\[{{K}_{p}}\]will be equal to\[{{K}_{c}}\]? (1) \[{{N}_{2}}(g)+{{O}_{2}}(g)2NO(g)\] (2) \[S{{O}_{2}}(g)+C{{l}_{2}}(g)S{{O}_{2}}C{{l}_{2}}(g)\] (3) \[{{H}_{2}}(g)+S(g){{H}_{2}}S(g)\] (4) \[2S{{O}_{2}}(g)+{{O}_{2}}(g)2S{{O}_{3}}(g)\]

    A)  1, 2 and 3 are correct

    B)  1 and 2 are correct

    C)  2 and 4 are correct

    D)  1 and 3 are correct

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

                     We know that, \[{{K}_{p}}={{K}_{c}}{{(RT)}^{\Delta {{n}_{g}}}}\] when, \[\Delta {{n}_{g}}=0,{{K}_{p}}={{K}_{c}}\] For reaction (1), \[\Delta {{n}_{g}}=0\] For reaction (2), \[\Delta {{n}_{g}}=1-2=-1\] For reaction (3), \[\Delta {{n}_{g}}=1-1=0\] For reaction (4), \[\Delta {{n}_{g}}=2-3=-1\] \[\therefore \]For reaction (1) and (3),\[{{K}_{p}}={{K}_{c}}\]
